Number of Grave Crimes Decreased by 9.2%

The report on the Procedure and Results of the Implementation of the RA Police for 2020 was presented at the sitting of the NA Standing Committee on Defense and Security.

The Deputy Head of the RA Police Ara Fidanyan noted that the system had an overloaded agenda due to the pandemic and the martial law during 2020.

It was mentioned that the movement of the recorded crimes decreased by 1.4% or 382 cases last year. The main part of the 26,468 recorded cases are minor and medium gravity crimes which are considered the least dangerous crimes in the society and make up 83,5% of the total cases. The number of the gravest crimes increased by 12 or 4,2% which is due to the increasing number of murders and murder attempt, and the number of the grave crimes decreased by 413 or 9,2%.

Ara Fidanyan underlined that a number of systemized reforms were implemented in the field.

Referring to the issues on closing the streets of Baghramyan and Demirchian, the Deputy Head of Police noted that the citizens’ right to free movement is violated, causing a lot of inconveniences. Nevertheless, the police try to find solutions through the dialogue.
